Abbottabad Falcons v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Stallions demolish Falcons by 34 runs
Contributing a brisk unbeaten half-ton, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503 played a vital role in the Sialkot Stallions’ 34-run victory over the Abbottabad Falcons, in their Group A match during the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, played today on December 6 at the Bagh-e-Jinnah
in Lahore.
The Falcons won the toss and chose to field first, but while Junaid Khan (4-0-22-3) did a commendable job of leading the attack, with one-wicket contributions from Ahmed Jamal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khalid-Usman-c71296, and Yasir Shah each, Haris Sohail got his team up to a sizeable
total of 164 within 20 overs.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248 was eventually dismissed by Ahmed
Jamal, and Naved-ul-Hasan followed suit 5 overs later, stumped by Mir Azam off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Shah-c98252.
Player of the Match Haris Sohail (62*), however, proved to be the saving grace of the team’s innings, and was joined by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 (33) for a 79-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Their combined efforts got the team from 69 to 148, after which
the skipper fell prey to Khalid Usman in the 19th over.
Adeel Malik (6) and Nayyer Abbas (1) were both sent packing by Junaid Khan in the final over, and by the end of 20 overs, with Haris Sohail and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Khan-c996 (2*) at the crease, the team posted a final total of 164.
The Falcons, however, found themselves unequal to the chase – shoddy running resulted in two dismissals via run out, while the Stallions' Naved-ul-Hasan (4-0-26-2) proved to be the danger-man, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adeel-Malik-c41977 all picking up
one wicket each.
Only four of the Falcons’ batsmen succeeded in crossing into double digits – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Younis-Khan-c98325 (10) both failed to capitalise on their starts. Opening batsman
Mir Azam scored a meagre 4, while middle-order batsmen Khalid Usman (9) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Raees-c42061 (3) were similarly lacklustre.
By the end of 20 overs, with 7 wickets down, the Falcons found themselves restricted to 130, and the Stallions went on to secure their fourth win in five matches – victory by a margin of 34 runs.
