  1. You are either a Sergeant or a Staff sergeant. Until you are actually promoted you are entitled to nothing as a staff sergeant. SSGT

  2. There is no such rank as SSgt Select.  He will be a SrA until the day he sews on SSgt.  My husband was a "SSgt select" for 12 months before he got to sew on.  Sorry, it's just SrA!!!

  3. SrA (Senior Airman).

  4. Yes, there is no abbreviation for a Staff Sergeant select.

    Sergeant (SGT)

    Staff Sergeant (SSGT)

  5. there is none..

from personal experience, you're still a SrA (E-4) until that magic day the orders become Effective. In my day, we had Sgts and SrA as E-4

NOTE: If a T/Sgt as Master Sergeant (selectee) signed ANY government document (even 781s) as M/Sgt he is FALSIFYING a federal document.

IN the USAF, Besides the only nim-nos that I ever heard make a big deal over the Selectee process were those that were blatant chair-warmers...  These would not be the guys I wanted loading bombs or pumping fuel onto my birds!

The Navy seems to have some thing about Selectees - especially amongst the Zeros (officers) O-6 and above.

  6. Why does the Navy and Air Force s***w up the rank structure SOOO bad. Just base it off te Army and Marine Corps(majority of the military between the two). They are identical and a SSGT is a E-6 in both unlike the AF where it is a E-5 , or navy where it is a PO2. I could not stand whenever airman thought they outranked you and you were their equal. So off subject.

  7. The correct addreviation for a USAF Staff Sergeant Select is SrA

  8. There is none, as the previous rank is an airman, not a Sergeant.  A Tech Select would be (T)Sgt.  He's already an NCO, but now being promoted to Tech.

But, generally one does not do this unless they are in a supervisory position that requires that rank.  Ex.  A TSgt who is a MSgt select is made a shop chief, a position normally held by a MSgt.  Then he would sign off on things as (M)Sgt. Bubba.

Edit:  I will assume Amanda's hubby is AF, since the list just came out.  There is no Buck Sgt. and hasn't been since 1991.  It's SrA then SSgt.

  9. SrA
