Abby Sullivan captures Women’s 100yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships
Abby Sullivan of TUM captured gold medal of the Women’s 100yard freestyle at the 2012 High School State Championships on Saturday, November 10.
Sullivan demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the 100yard discipline and occupied the crown. She showed no signs of slowing down from the start sprinted her way towards the finishing end for the crown.
Sullivan enjoyed just a half body length lead over her following swimmer and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal with an effort of 52.38 seconds.
The champion was chased by Taylor Wilson of ELLEN, who 0.50 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 52.88 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Caitl Quaempts of WEST, who suffered a loss of full body length from her former swimmer and concluded her race in third place by touching the wall with the timing of 54.05 seconds.
Similarly, Quaempts  was traced by Anneke Stoker of TUM, who was 0.92 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and ended her race in fourth place by touching the wall with an effort of 54.97 seconds.
Subsequently, Stoker was traced by Janae Miller of MM, who stayed 0.53 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking a time of 55.50 seconds.
Miller was followed by Kelly Giffey of W.F, who was 0.35 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and ended her race in sixth place by producing a time of 55.85 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Jessica McKinney of LW, who tried hard to improve her position in the final round but was unable to do so. McKinney remained marginally slower from her former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 55.95
seconds.
Last spot of the discipline was obtained by Serita Solis of NK, who was 0.75 seconds behind and concluded her race in eighth place by hitting the wall with an effort of 56.70 seconds.
In addition, Sullivan was overjoyed with her gold claiming effort and collected medal at the prize ceremony of the event.
