I have to do an abc craft book with my 3 year old for her preschool class. It's due in 2 weeks. I'm stumped on what to do for I, J, K, M, N and W. Any ideas? It can be as simple as her painting something with her fingers. Thanks

  1. I am a teacher in a 3-year-old preschool class.  We make letter books in class and usually we will do a free form art page using something that starts with the letter of the week and we will make something that starts with the letter of the week.  I'm not sure which kind of project you are looking for so I will include multiple ideas for each letter.

I:   dilute paint with water and freeze it in ice cube trays.  She can paint an ice cream cone shape that you cut out with the Ice paint.

You can cut out a brown triangle and two ice cream colored circles and have her make an ice cream cone.

J:   Put some jelly beans in a cup with some paint.  Cut a jelly bean shape out of construction paper.  Put the jelly bean in a shoe box.  Let her fish the jellybeans out of the cup and place them on the paper jellybean.  Let her shake the box making the jellybeans jump on the paper.  It makes a beautiful design and is really fun!

Another idea is you can print off a picture of a joker from clip art on your computer and let her color it.  Then you cut out a 1 inch X 3 inch strip of paper.  Help her fold the strip into an accordion shape.  Glue the joker on one end of the accordion and the other in her book.  Then glue one side of a square over the joker.  When you lift the flap it's like a jack in the box popping out!

K:   cut out a diamond shape and help her glue a piece of yarn at the bottom to make a kite.  Let her put glitter on the kite or finger paint it or both!

M:   Cut a circle out of tin foil.  Glue it to construction paper cut in the shape of a hand held mirror.  Let her decorate her magic mirror with markers.

N:   Put macaroni noodles in a plastic bag with a few drops of food coloring and let your daughter shake the bag.  Pour the colored noodles onto a paper towel to let them dry.  When they are dry let her string them on yarn to make a noodle necklace.  Glue it into the book.

An easier idea is to let her cut colored napkins and make a  collage.

W:  Let her use water colors to paint a cut out whale, walrus or wolf.  Or, she can simply use blue watercolor to paint water.

  2. W cut wings out of paper

    M print celery moons

    K make a mini kite

    N make a macaroni necklace

L lime or lemon slices and print with paint

J mini jacket with beads for buttons and glitter
