http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 all-rounder Abdul Razzaq on Tuesday said that he is gearing up to play his part for his country in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011 after a barely visible opening to the esteemed tournament.
“I am keeping myself ready in the nets so whenever the team needs me I will be playing my part and do my job of lifting the run rate,” he said while talking to the media after a practice session.
The 31-year-old, who comes at number eight in the Pakistan batting line-up, said that their batting has been impressive so far in the World Cup. He added that he has not yet got a chance to prove his mettle with the bat but whenever he gets it, he will play
his part.
“Definitely, when you get to bat your confidence goes high, but our batting line-up is very strong and I am not getting many chances but whenever I do I am ready to play my part,” said the veteran of 256 One Day Internationals who is famous for his hard-hitting
shots in the death overs.
He faced just six deliveries scoring eight runs during Pakistan’s 317-run innings against tournament outsiders http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, compiling only three runs.
Razzaq, who is also a right-arm medium pacer and has claimed 262 ODI wickets, did not even bowl a complete 10-over spell in any of the two opening games. He bowled five overs in each game and returned wicketless.
The 31-year-old, playing his fourth World Cup, feels the wickets of Subcontinent are batting friendly. He further added that batting up the order during the prestigious tournament was his wish but it was up to the management to decide his batting order.
