http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 lies about fitness, may face disciplinary action – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s Abdul Razzaq has some explaining to do to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB), after he lied to the national selection committee about being unable to bowl due to a shoulder injury.
The PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, has taken note of the situation, and the experienced right-hander, who was a PCB contracted players last year, will be asked to give an explanation regarding his claims, following which he may face disciplinary action for providing
false information to the board and the selectors.
The all-rounder, who is currently playing for Duronto Rajshahi in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League, allegedly misled the committee into believing that his injured shoulder would not allow him to bowl if he was included in the national squad. He did, however,
request a No Objection Certificate from the PCB for playing in the BPL, which he was granted.
"Razzaq was under consideration for the one-day series against England. But he informed the selectors that due to a shoulder injury he couldn't bowl. He claimed he should be given a NOC for the BPL where he would only play as a batsman," a source close to
the selection committee confirmed.
As a result, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 was not considered by the selectors for the Pakistani squad. However, after the commencement of the BPL, the PCB was surprised to note that the 32-year old was not only batting, but also bowling for the Rajashahi side.
“He is not only batting but also bowling regularly for them which is strange,” the source commented.
Mohammad Illyas, the chief selector, also confirmed that Razzaq had asked to be excluded from the squad on grounds of fitness.
"I don't know what is the situation now but he told us he was not fit to bowl," Illyas said.
Pakistan’s recent performance in the ongoing ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 (for which Razzaq was being considered) has been disappointing so far.
Razzaq, who has played 265 ODIs, and has 5080 runs and 269 wickets under his belt, could have come in handy, considering his all-round abilities as the Men In Green currently trail England 2-0 in the four-match ODI series at UAE.
However, his stint in the BPL has been mediocre so far, with the player performing below expectations with both, the bat and ball – claiming just three wickets and registering a top score of 30.
