Abdul Razzaq likely to play the Friends Life T20 for Leicestershire Foxes
Pakistan’s cricket team’s all-rounder, Abdul Razzaq, is almost certain to represent Leicestershire Foxes of the English County in the current season as both parties have agreed to the terms and conditions of the contract. Razzaq is therefore likely to be
playing for Leicestershire in the upcoming Friends Life T20 competition.
The all-rounder is considered a specialist in the limited-over’s format of the game which makes it almost certain that he will play the Friends Life T20 competition as a Foxes’ player.
Abdul Razzaq was dropped from the Pakistani team after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the selection committee raised questions about his fitness and age to compete at the international level.
He is still considered as one of the fiercest balling strikers at the depth of an innings but his bowling and fielding has gone down considerably over the years.
Leicestershire’s chief executive, Mike Siddall, is glad about signing Abdul Razzaq since he can play a vital role in the county’s success in the shortest format of the game.
Foxes’ management decided to sign the Pakistani all-rounder even though their budget was a little restricted currently.
Siddall said, "I think this shows our ambition. We had a little bit of money available with Andrew McDonald going to the IPL. We want to do better than last year in the T20 when we lost seven home matches".
Moreover, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807’s coach, Phil Whitticase, is also excited to have someone in the squad with profound international cricket experience.
He said that Abdul Razzaq can be a precious player in both departments of the game. The all-rounder can bamboozle the batsmen with his sharp in-swingers and possesses the ability to hit the ball a long way.
"We are talking about someone who can contribute with the bat and bowl up front or at the death. We'll probably be looking at him coming in down the order and clearing the boundaries in the final few overs", Whiticase expressed.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 will be looking to put in some strong performances since that will help him in making a comeback in the Pakistani team.
It is more of a question of proving his fitness and agility even at this stage of his career.
