http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 says a lobby in PCB is responsible for the oust of senior players from national team
The out of favour Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq on Sunday claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is conspiring to keep senior cricketers out of the national team adding that such conspiracies could be catastrophic for the national sport.
The 31-year-old cricketer from Lahore accused that there is lobby active in the PCB which is involved in gradual ousting of senior players from the team.
"This lobby is active in slowly ousting all senior players from the team and there is one main person who is calling the shots from behind the curtain," said Razzaq while talking to a leading Pakistan newspaper. "The axing of senior players is not in the
interest of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket," he added further.
The PCB selectors overlooked several senior players for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Zimbabwe and announced a relatively inexperienced 16-member squad for the itinerary under Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership. The seasoned players who were overlooked by the selection
committee include Abdul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839.
Besides above mentioned players, there are several senior prolific players who have been struggling for a spot in the national side including prolific middle order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 and
pacer Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan.
Razzaq said that although the PCB chief, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 is working honestly to uplift the plunging form of game in the country, there are forces in the board misguiding him.
Abdul Razzaq, who has 46 Tests and 262 One Day Internationals under his belt, has not played a five-dayer for Pakistan since December 2006, though he has been a consistent part of the one-day side. But since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, Razzaq has been overlooked
for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 tour.
Razzaq said that he has been disappointed by his snub adding that he had fallen victim to the conspiracies of the lobby active in PCB.
"I am very disappointed not be considered for the Pakistan team, it hurts. I don't want to take names but there is a lobby that does not want to see senior players in the national team," he said. "I have fallen victim to the conspiracies of this lobby,"
he added dejectedly.
Pakistan team will leave for Zimbabwe tour on 24th August and the opening Test will commence from September 1.
