Abdur Rehman to miss http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s next game against Canada in the ICC World Cup 2011
Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman is set to miss his team’s next encounter against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748 after he sustained a leg injury during the crunch game against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
He has been advised a five-day rest by the doctors and Pakistan team management has decided not to risk him against the minnows.
The left-arm spinner pulled his muscle while fielding against Sri Lanka and immediately felt pain. However, he chose to stay on the field after getting his leg strapped. Rehman played an important part in that game as he took an important wicket of Chamara
Silva after giving away 63 runs from his 10 overs.
Pakistan team manager and former Test captain Intikhab Alam said, “Rehman sprained his leg while fielding in the match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and had to put on a strapping in order to bowl. It's an adductor muscle rupture. We don't want to risk Rehman and will
wait for him to recover.”
Abdur Rehman’s absence will mean that the other specialist spinner in the squad, Saeed Ajmal will get his first opportunity in the ongoing World Cup. Ajmal has been a permanent member of Pakistan’s limited overs squad since the last couple of years but Rehman
has recently taken over the role of the premier spinner in the Pakistan line-up after a good showing in the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. It would be an ideal opportunity for Ajmal to regain his spot in the playing eleven.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s vice-captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 also faced a minor hamstring strain during his match-winning knock against the hosts and did not take the field when Pakistan were bowling. However, he is expected to be fit before the game against
Canada but might be rested to give an opportunity to Asad Shafiq.
Misbah has been in sublime form recently for the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 in both Test cricket and limited-over format of the game. He along with Younis Khan is the most reliable Pakistani batsman at the moment as both of them proved their worth in the first two matches
of the mega event.
