Abelardo says Pep Guardiola will find it hard to do better than Jupp Heynckes – Football news
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 head coach will have difficulty as he replaces Jupp Heynckes at the Allianz Arena.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 central defender, Abelardo, claims newly appointed team trainer, Pep, will face a battle to do better than Heynckes. The Bundesliga giants won the historic treble under the legendary coach who announced his retirement from the game a
fortnight ago.
“Of course he knows that it's gonna be difficult to top Jupp Heynckes' feats this season,” the 43-year-old was quoted as saying in an interview.
The veteran boss guided the Bavarian outfit to Bundesliga title, German cup and the UEFA Champions League. Therefore, the defender believes Guardiola has tough boots to fill in. He claimed that even the former Barca star is aware of this situation but is
looking forward to the challenge.
“However, he also knows that, similar to his time at Barcelona, he will have a gigantic squad at his disposal along with great conditions to target the set goals,” he added.
Nevertheless, Pep knows that just like his Camp Nou days, he will have a big and talented team at his hands as well as ideal conditions to manage a club. He would have turned down the chance to coach Der FCB, if he was not sure that he will be successful.
“If there would have been any doubts, he wouldn't have taken the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684,” he mused.
Abelardo said the two European giants are alike in nurturing talented young players and the successful boss was happy to sign for the German team.
“There are a lot of similarities between Barcelona and Bayern. Both are teams with a huge historic background, and he [Pep] knows that there are good talents,” he said.
Bayern and Barca are both very big clubs and have great history. On the other hand, Pep is aware of the promising and exciting players in Die Roten’s ranks. Top players such as Holger Badstuber, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 and Thomas Muller all
got promoted to the senior team from the reserve lot, and that is why he was interested in the club.
