The Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open is going to be held from May 3-5 at the prestigious Archerfield Links in East Lothian, with a field featuring seventy top players from across Europe.
The Ladies European Tour (LET) event will see professional players play in teams, including celebrities and other well-known personalities of Scotland.
Tournament officials said that this year's edition is special, as it is using a different match format - Dunhill Links-style.
They said that the players are expressing their excitement over the format, which is also grabbing media's attention.
Officials said that the presence of celebrities and sports' personalities has triggered interest among golf fans, which will help them attract a much bigger crowd at Archerfield Links this year.
Some of the big names confirmed for the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open include the reigning champion Catriona Matthew, Lynn Kenny, Kylie Walker, Karen Lunn, Melissa Reid, Carly Booth and others.
In addition to battle-hardened professional golfers, the field will also feature former English bowler Darren Gough and Michael Vaughan, who is former skipper of England.
Brendan Cole, a dancing superstar, is also reported to have confirmed his participation in the much-hyped tournament.
Thrilled by the looming battle at Archerfield, the 36-year-old Cole said that he will try to do his best in the field featuring competent players.
He said,  "I am very much looking forward to playing in the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open at Archerfield this May. It’s promising to be a great tournament with a fantastic player field and it will be fun to test my golfing skills".
The kiwi ballroom dancer, who graced Strictly Come Dancing, a BBC programme, went on to say that he has never played on the course of Archerfield before.
However, he is hopeful that playing among professional players will help him learn some good golfing skills.
The defending champion Catriona Matthew said that she is looking forward to grabbing the title of the prestigious event. Analysts said that Matthew will be trying to capitalise on the home course support, as she lives near the Archerfield, East Lothian.
“I’m lucky enough to be an honorary member at Archerfield and I feel at home and relaxed there.  I think it’s a great venue for this tournament," Matthew said.
