India’s young top-order batsman, Abhinav Mukund, does not want to lose hope after having a tough time during the recent Test series against England.
Playing in a couple of matches against the Poms, the young man could only manage to gather 64 runs in four innings, with a highest score of 49.
Meanwhile, he failed to show the magic of his blistering stroke-play as the Englishmen troubled him with speed and swing.
Having such a poor outing at the early days of his career, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 tour has definitely dented Mukund’s confidence to some extent. He is slightly disappointed over not being able to cash in the opportunity but not ready to take anything to heart, aiming
to keep working hard and do well whenever he is given a chance in the future.
"The results don't show how much progress I made. I have definitely got the belief that I could do well and there's so much that I have learned. It was a tough couple of tours [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and England], but I can take a lot of confidence out of them," said
Mukund who made his debut on recent tour to West Indies where the left-handed opener collected 147 runs in three matches.
His only good knock on the tour to England was his fabulous century in the Tour Match against Northants but that could not push selectors to consider him for the final two games. With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 returning to the side, Mukund was not overlooked for the
final playing XI in the last two Tests, played at Edgbaston and Oval respectively.
Although, Mukund likes to carry on with his career as a top-order batsman, he claimed to have flexibility in his game to bat at any position in the batting order.
"At the end of the day, I believe that opening batsmen should open. [However] I don't really mind playing lower down the order if slots open up there and I can contribute," shared the 21-year-old batsman who is eyeing a place in the squad for the upcoming
Test battle against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, scheduled by the end of 2011.
