Eric Abidal has revealed that his first priority is being healthy. He is more interested to being fit again than returning to the starting eleven of Barcelona.
The defender had gone through two operations since March 2011. Recently it was rumoured that he was back at training and will come back into full fitness in December this year. However, the Barca left-back is now only concerned
with his health first.
He said that his main objective is not to play again but what is more crucial for him is his health and fitness.
“My goal is not to play again,” the 33-year-old left back told TV channel http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 2. “For me now, the most important thing is to have good health.”
The Frenchman also commented on life as a general and some of its values. He mentioned what are his priorities and where they are placed at the moment.
“There are some things that endure, and others that don't. My priority is my family and my health.”
The French international then reflected on his first surgery and the support and backing he has received from people in all walks of life.
The defender revealed how his outlook on life has changed when he received his first diagnoses two years ago and said that experience changed his perception about the reality and priorities of life.
“My life changed when I had the surgery two years ago. I've looked at life differently since then. I have different priorities.”
He added that he received a lot of support and backing from people and that he appreciates what they have done for him during his ordeal.
“I realise that during my illness there were many people behind me, some that I know and some that I don't. I appreciate all of their efforts. It's a gift that will mark me for life.”
Abidal could return at the end of this year but it seems http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are taking their time and not trying to rush back the defender into early action.
However, his club is travelling to Glasgow for Champions League action. On Wednesday, they will face the Scottish champions, Celtic.
