Abortion question...

Lets say a woman's life is in danger if she were to give birth. However, she doesn't want to have an abortion because she would rather die before she takes away her baby's life. After giving birth, she dies. Now is this considered an act of suicide and is this punishable according to Islam?

Personally, I think it is something I would have done too. I can never imagine having an abortion even if my life is in danger. After reading about how they perform abortions, I could never live with myself. So does Islam make it mandatory to have an abortion if not doing so can cause death to the mother?

  1. I agree with Maria. The baby has not yet been into any relationships.

But the woman is a wife,a daughter, maybe mother of elder kids..and just by expecting a baby to born on this world and living on her/his own,she should rather forgo the baby and fulfil her rest of the responsibilities.

By choosing to die(only Allah knows what will happen during delivery),she is running away from responsibilities. If she pass away, her husband will never have her love and care anymore,Her father n mother will never have her anymore..

On the other hand,if she opts to go for abortion, she is doing harm to the baby too.By just giving birth, what is the purpose...

To stop my rant,i think it is bad choice or instead haram.running away fro responsibilities by choosing to give birth to baby, which in turn wiull affect many lives..

    Salam

Edit:!Incincible,u r talking abt case in which they say"unwated pregnancy",But there can also be a case when man and wife have intercourse to have a baby.but pregnancy ends up complicated and has to be terminated..

  2. well why did she have intercourse in the first place knowing the consequences? The baby has done nothing wrong, so why punish him? Abortion is barbaric. It's worse than burying live daughters at the time of Prophet Muhammad (s). It's killing the child before he is even born. For those who are pro abortion, all i gotta say is that the people of arabia at the time of the Prophet (s) were better who would at least let the child out and then decide about killing or not rather than just killing it inside the womb of the mother because of your own ignorance and lack of knowledge

And to answer to your question, no it's not suicide....it's simply dieing natural death. If you didn't wanna have the baby, why engage in such things that could make it?

If she dies naturally after the birth, it's obviously not haram nor is it punishable, but if she died on purpose after giving the birth then obviously it's a torture to both her offspring and herself in this world and the hereafter and therefore it's an act of suicide.

  3. Allah allows a Muslim to have haram food when it comes to his/her life and no doubt, life of mother is more important than a child's life in such cases.

If she will give birth to a child and there are less chances of her and child's survival as compared to the chance that she' will have an abortion,  in such case she should go for the thing with maximum chances.Life is a blessing of Allah and everyone of us is responsible for it and we have to answer for it in front of Allah. It is better to loose one life instead of two.Allah is familiar with her condition very well and He will surely bless her with something better.

  4. Shah is right

  5. Salam for you my dear sister.

If a mother does not want to have an abortion even though her life is in danger if she gives birth and she choose rather die,she is not considered doing a suicide because she wanted a save in her life and also for her baby. She will not be punished according to Islam. She will be brought to heaven and be considered as she has a value of syahid.

This abortion for helping the life of a mother is allowed but it is not a must or mandatory to be selected  if the mother could never live with herself without her baby.

  6. This is a very sensitive question to answer.

Abortion is forbidden in Islam.Abortion is permitted only when a reliable medical specialist confirms that continuing in the state of pregnancy is dangerous for the life of the woman and there is no other way to avoid this danger.

A mother, is a person in this world, alive, adult. her life would be in danger if she gives birth to a  baby who hasn't arrived into this world yet. A person who is alive and living, his life is more important and putting own life in danger like this, is not appreciable in Islam.

And this woman must be a wife of someone, daughter, sister, or even may be a mother of her other children, she should think about those other relationships as well.

I know thats very emotional and hurting, but this the life of this grown up person is more important than the life of that someone who hasn't even come into this world. pray to Allah.

    Rest Allah knows the best~!

  7. I am just going to answer based on my Quranic knowledge. The reader and all else must verify what I say, by studying the Quran THEMSELVES (Not by some d**n scholar) and then decide.

1-  In the Quran, God says that "Do NOT kill your children out of fear of poverty, we provide for you as well as for them".

This clearly means that "Abortion" for the purpose of fear of having a child to cater for and financially not being able to do so, is NOT allowed.

For ALL other reasons, one should judge him/herself as per the conscience and teachings of the Quran.

2-   From the Quran we ALSO learn that our ACTUAL date of birth is 6 months prior to delivery and NOT the delivery date. e.g. our soul enters the womb of our mother 6 months prior to delivery. This means that Abortion should be pretty much O.K. if carried out before the end of 3-months.

3-   With what I have learned and know and feel, IT is NOT allowed to risk your own life, IF the choice comes between either an ALREADY living being and a being that is yet to be delivered. Therefore if there is ANY POSSIBILITY of a danger to life of mother, and the only solution to avoid is "Abortion", then one should opt for it.
