  1. That is true, there is a law where you can just drop your baby off no questions asked. I think it's named after a child that was murdered and left in a dumpster by its mother that didn't want it.

  2. Family help, ie grandparents.

  3. There was a law passed not so long ago..its called SAFE HAVEN...its a law that makes it legal for you to leave your baby at a hospital, or fire station, police dept.etc..and not be questioned about it....its better than abortion, just bcz you dont want, or cant , take care of your baby doesnt gv you the right to end its life. I have included a few web addresses they may help you lear more about this law bcz each state has different requirements....I hope this helps you.

  4. You sound young. Are you in high school? Is it true that a teacher has assigned you to write about "giving your baby up"? That seems like an odd essay assignment.

For women who find themselves unexpectedly pregnant, their first decision is whether or not to stay pregnant, that's true. If the woman decides to continue with the pregnancy rather than have an abortion, then the first choice is usually to raise the child. The second choice is to raise the child within the family in some way, either unofficially or through a kinship adoption.

Very few women (statistically speaking) "give up" their children after they are born. That's not an easy thing to do.

  5. There is new legislation that states that anyone who has a baby and cannot care for it can bring it to the local police station or hospital, no quesitons asked.  It's different in each state, if they have it.  I think it's the safe haven law?

  6. you can have someone in your family like a god parent take care of the baby maybe? not too sure tho

  7. you can anonymously drop off an unwanted baby at a fire station or hospital, & i think maybe churches...

  8. A family member can raise w/out a formal adoption.

  9. well yes there is another..  raise it..  let your family get the baby..

  10. I believe the other option would be to keep and raise the child.

BTW  The difference between foster care and adoption is that when a child is adopted they will permanently become a part of a loving family.

When a child is not adopted (and there are many who are not) they will go into the state sytem of foster care, where they are moved from home to home often. The child may have many "foster parents", but will never have a family of their own.  Once a child is moved out of the foster home, they are not allowed to visit with their foster parents again, and the  foster parents are never told where the child has gone.

  11. Remember that abortion IS murder~

  12. The one thing you need to change in your essay is (are) the words, "give up".....you "place" your baby up for adoption thru different channels.  Open adoption actually allows you to pick the couple or single person who would like to adopt your baby.  Closed adoption, letting a social service agency pick for you.  Private adoption is usually done with an attorney.

If you're a teen in denial, in Calif. you can "leave" your baby  at a hospital, police station or fire station anonymously after it is born.  (poor choice, but one nonetheless)

  13. Baby dumps (sorry Safe Havens)

    and Legal Guardianship

  14. The law the pp was looking for is called Safe Haven in most states.

In addition to adoption and state sponsored foster care, birth parents can find a family member to take care of the child.  If it's monitored by the state (like foster care) then it's classified as Kinship Care.

  15. The only other possibility I could think of is, given you have a supportive enough family/friend, have another family member raise the child.

Weird family dynmics, but I have heard of a mother who raised her son's kid.  And a woman who brought up her sister's baby.

  16. i do not think there is anything else.

  17. How about keeping the baby and raising it yourself?

  18. The baby can raise him self, jk

  19. No.  It's those two for options.  Some one else must care for your child and they will either keep it permanently (adoption) or care for it for a time (fostering).

It's not really an option if you absolutely MUST give your baby up but- possibly after having the child if the mother has a revelation and actually comes to terms with her responsibility- decides to actually care for it for herself?

  20. yea you can let a family member take care of the kid. anything but killing it or you can try to do it your self.

  21. You can leave the baby anonymously at a hospital or fire station. Some woman want to keep it very hidden, therefore would not even take the adoption route. So the two are different.

  22. sorry I wish I knew what it was called, but recently a law was passed that you could leave a new born baby at a police station or church, no questions asked. look into that

  23. Keeping the baby would be an option. (The first and most important option obviously) because you cannot give up a dead baby. I suggest women get a sonogram before making their decision. They have programs that do such things to prevent abortions. They have a 82% success rate. Search the web.
