  1. G'Day mate breaking the sound barrier is not that hard considering that getting the projectile  over 1100 fps is breaking the sound barrier.Stick a grenade in it, it should help it go faster lol .cheers mate

  2. check out eddies air gun forum. Slick 50 will cause that baby to send lead out at 1000fps and you will know. I have been using slick 50 in mine for years with no bad effects and it sounds like a 22. However they tend to lose some accuracy at 1100+fps. It is expensive over 10 bucks a quart but you will never use a quart. Nothing else works like slick 50!!! Don't waste 5 dollars three times just spend the money and get the real stuff. I ust a visine bottle to charge the chamber and usually the first shot is so so and the next 3 or 4 go crack and then it is time to recharge. The slick 50 tightens everything up and pings like a diesel engine. You will see a small amount of smoke!!!

  3. the speed of sound is roughly 1100 fps.  I assume your 1000 fps figure is for .177 caliber lead pellets.  If you go to steel pellets they will be lighter and you might get a slightly higher muzzle velocity, but as steel is lighter, the surface area ratio to weight is higher, which means it will loose speed faster to air resistance, so 20 meters out lead would probably be faster.

There will be a somewhat different sound, but not drastically different.

  4. If you don't care anything about accuracy and just want to "crack" the sound barrier.

IMO, you might as well use Crosman Silver Eagles(4.8gr) there is no reason to pay a small fortune for Gamo's PBA Raptor(5.4gr)

DO NOT put petroleum based products into the compression chamber of your air rifle. They will cause your rifle to diesel. This forced detonation is very hard on your rifle and can be very dangerous!

    >>I recently bought a Beeman model 1073 at Wal-Mart, it says it will go 1000fps with lead and in .22 caliber will do about 800fps<< Those "up to" fps claims should be taken with a grain of salt. When the day comes that an airgun maker decides to put the pellet(make/shape/weight/etc) that they actually achieved their "claim" with, on that day. I "might" take their claim seriously.
