They said all cars under 5k were as is, now i know as is, is as is.

I got this car from a online dealership in Virginia. I live in Maryland i did even make it across state lines with the car. I had to get it towed to a shop in Maryland the next day

I called the dealership to talk with the sales men and no luck for about two weeks now. I talked with the guy and so far he said the they would go half on the bill. and if i have gotten the car back to him that they could have got nother engine in it for me for about $1000.00.

The car has been in the shop ever since the day that i brought it. Tune-ups, rad flushes, Ignition controle module, new computer put in, old alarm system pulled out due to shorting out system. Is there any law or way i can return this can and get my money back.

  1. "As is" means exactly that. You got what you bought. You bought a 17 year old car. No reasonable person would expect it to be trouble free. When you buy a used car, you assume all risk. You had the opportunity to determine the condition of the car before you bought it. The dealership legally doesn't have to help you in any way. You bought a piece of junk.

  2. As is....... is "AS IS"...... now...... if you bought your car in California..... the car would HAVE to be smogged by the buyer before it can be sold to you or the title transfered (you can do it... but it is the responsibility of the seller)....and say you bought it and it broke down...... (before you went to go smog it)... then this said car would not pass smog.... so then you would be able to return it..or have the seller pay for what-ever it needs to be running and pass inspection...... But that is in CA... check your local laws.....

  3. im sorry there are no lemon laws that i know of that go beyond a 7 day return, and even then they (the car lot in question)had the stipulation of the under $ 2500 as is , if they are willing to go halfs take the deal

  4. No. That is why you should always have an independent inspection done on any used vehicle before you buy it.
