Question:

About APA 9-ball SL6's vs. SL9's?

This is for APA players for the most part. The 9-ball skill level boards are broken up into skill level 2-3, 4-5, and 6-9 tiers in Las Vegas. I'm satisfied with the first two boards but do you think the playing field is even for a SL6 on the 6-9 tier? I know the argument from the higher level players is, "I have to make 75 balls before a 6 makes 46 balls". Well, 29 balls isn't very much when a SL9 typically breaks and runs two or three racks in a match, and sometimes four or five. I don't think the 6 has a legitimate chance at winning at the top of the tier as it is right now. I think the 6-9 tier should be broken up into two tiers and want to know your thoughts about it.

  1. I don't know much about APA. Are the sl6 and 9 thing the amount of games you need to win the match?  Anything can happen in 9 ball.  You snap 1 in on the break and get a combo and boom you are up 5 games on the race to 9.  Just don't be afraid and play your game.  Keep rackn em up!

  2. I'm gonna have to agree with you 100%

I haven't had the opportunity to play APA 9 Ball yet, (we are planning a division in our territory for next session) but I have looked into the rules in preparation.

I am an sl6 in 8-Ball and I know my league operator is gonna probably lock me in as a 6 for 9 Ball (unless I get too good),  but I know when I play 9 Ball against sl7's  I can win but they typically drop way more balls, so as far as APA 9 Ball goes It's gonna be tough, and I would never want to go head's up with a Jeff Seargent even if I got 29 balls.
