I got married an Australian? How long will take to get PR for me? One of my friend say if i want to get PR in Australia i have to stay at least 2 years? is it correcet?

  1. It depends on your visa. I'm originally from the UK; I have permanent residency through my trade background, and the total application time took a year and cost around $5000 (inc. migration agent fees). If you marry an Aussie I can imagine it would be a lot quicker, since you won't need to prove your trade skill sets, as I had to. You will need to stay in Australia for a minimum of two years out of the five year length of your visa, though you can come & go as often as you please-it is a cumulative total of two years. You will have to live in Oz for a total of five years before you can apply for citizenship. Once your visa is due to expire after five years you just get it renewed in Oz, which is easily done at an immigration centre, at least that's what the immi.gov.au website says....
