  1. realize that it isn't man made and you can't control the weather just as much as you can't control what will happen to you tomorrow. Night!

  2. Tell every government official that represents you (at local, state, and federal levels) that you want nuclear power promoted as an clean, safe, cheap, alternative energy source.

It's the simplest and by far the most effective thing you can do.

  3. one of the big problems will be having the correct people in the correct place who control this country.  The world must start to live self sustainably or we will ruin what has taken millions of years to create.   Corrupt politicians who have money in resources that are not environmental-friendly is what i believe will be what holds the world back from achieving this...oil prices are going nowhere but up. and F&*^n fast.  Cars and planes running on restaurant grease.. We have the technology, it just needs to be put in place

  4. plant trees. its really fun and it helps you save the planet. IT also gives you a sense of satisfaction.

  5. stop using petrol vehicles

    Not wasting water.

    Growing trees in our house.

    Not using Ac's. etc.

  6. you can't prevent global warming, it is a natural phenomena

We have had at least 5 ice ages, with global warming in between.

Stop listening to alarmists and start thinking, really thinking, for yourself.

  7. Its hard to say that we can prevent or cause Global Warming, yet we all should do our part not to be wasteful, or use more then what we need.  Recycle, turn off the lights, keep your appliances up to date they are more efficient and economical.   Drive vehicles that are safe and get great mileage, do recreational activities like biking, kayaking, walking, running, things that will keep you active and in shape.

  8. Turn off the lights when we leave a room. :)

  9. changing your household light bulbs to the enviromental friendly ones. The enviromental friendly ones are a bit more expensive but they consume less electricity (about 12 W) compared to the normal everyday ones which are 40W or 60W.

so in the long run, you spend less on your electricity bill while reducing the amount of heat you release from your household into the atmosphere.

  10. Don't believe in it..... That'll stop it!!!!!

  11. Planting more and more trees... Trees are free of cost n not ugly... it infact looks beautiful so why not plant more??

    Avoid cutting down the trees....

Use Solar system like solar calculators, watches, charge ur cellphones through solar system...

If possible for evrything we can use solar system...

Avoid using electricity as much we can.....

Make people aware of the consequences of Global Warming....

It has already started.... windy air, extremely hot sun, extremely cold..... all bcoz ozone layer is disappearing....

people leave their fan on... water... is just wasted in some parts........

    SAVE THE GLACIERS!!!........ :)

EDIT: Obviously use paper bags...., n recyling...:)

The technology already exists for countries to tackle the issue through the greater use of biofuels and renewable energy sources, and improving overall energy efficiency...

  12. The future is not somewhere we are going. It is something we are creating. Every day we do things that make some futures more probable and others less likely.

    Steps:

    1. Get educated: Educate yourself about global warming.

    2. Vote: and influence your government with phone calls, e-mails, letters and meetings with those who represent you in government. Learn as much as possible about the policies you advocate before doing so; solving one problem often creates others.

    3. Choose vegetarian or vegan meals: Livestock are responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than transportation is.

    4. Recycle more: Recycle more using recycling bins, composting, etc.

    5. Use compact fluorescent bulbs: Replace three frequently used light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs/lamps and save 300 lbs. of carbon dioxide.

    6. Fill the dishwasher: Run your dishwasher only with a full load. Save 100 lbs. of carbon dioxide, or do them by hand with minimal water.

    7. Use recycled paper:  Make sure your printer paper is 100% post consumer recycled paper. Save 5 lbs. of carbon dioxide per ream of paper. Decide if something is really worth printing out. Leave a signature at the bottom of your e-mails reminding the reader to think twice before printing the e-mail.

    8. Buy locally made and locally grown products: Buy locally to reduce the energy required to transport your goods.

    9. Count your carbon: Keep track of your carbon consumption as a way of tracking your progress. (a. There is a logo called Carbon Counted that companies can put on their products to communicate their carbon footprint.Buying products that have a low Carbon Counted footprint number gives consumers a means by which to influence and reward companies that reduce emissions in the creation of their products. -  b. Use carbon calculator.  -  c. Support producers of renewable energy.)

    10. Buy minimally packaged goods: Less packaging could reduce your garbage significantly, saving 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide.

    11. Insulate:

    a. Keeping your water heater insulated could save 1,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide.

    b. Be energy wise and insulate your entire home to keep down the heating and cooling costs.

    12. Replace old appliances and reduce reliance on them.

    13. Weather strip your home: Caulk and weather strip your doorways, windows and air conditioners. Save 1,700 lbs. of carbon dioxide.

    14. Use a push mower and reduce the lawn: Use your muscles instead of fossil fuels and get some strength-building exercise. Save 80 lbs of carbon dioxide per year.

    15. Unplug unused electronics: Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy.

    16. Grow fast growing plants: Plants like bamboo grow faster and produce 35% more oxygen than trees like oak or birch, and require fewer chemicals and care. Make sure that the plants are appropriate for your area; prefer native over introduced species and do not plant problem species. Bamboo, for example, can be very invasive in most of the US.

    17. Use public transportation: Taking the bus, the train, the subway or other forms of public transportation lessens the load on the roads and reduces one's individual greenhouse gas emissions.

    18. Ride a bicycle: Taking the bike instead of the car is a very simple solution.

    19. Use your vehicle as a tool against global warming: If you can't live without a car, then use it in a way that minimizes global impact.

    a. Buy a hybrid car.

    b. Buy a fuel efficient car.

    c. Practice green driving.

    d. Keep the tires on your car adequately inflated - under inflated tires can reduce fuel economy by up to 3% and increase wear and tear on your tires.Keep your car tires inflated. Check them monthly. Save 250 lbs. of carbon dioxide. A good gift is a tire air-pressure gauge as it not only saves money but makes driving safer.

    e. Change your air filter.

    20. Use Refills: Try using refills instead of buying new jars each time. This reduces your consumption and refills are usually cheaper too.

  13. global warming isn't real!!!!

    Here are some facts:

    1) If you took every car off every road in the US the temperature would change less than a TENTH OF A DEGREE!

    2) People cause 3.5% of temperature change with .4% coming from cars.

    3) The polar bear population has gone from 5000 to 25000 in 10 years and for some reason, they are still being put on the threatened list! they can swim!

    4) 5 billion dollars a year is wated by the US government to research "climate change"

    5) no one has proved why the hole in the ozone layer appeared, so the theory that the extreme cold caused it is just as credible as the theory thet cfcs or whatever caused it.

    6) Al Gore shows his audience a slide of CO2 concentrations, and a slide of historical temperatures. But for very good reason he does not combine them in one overlaid slide: Historically, atmospheric CO2, as often as not, increases after warming. This is typical in the campaign of claiming “consensus” to avoid debate (consensus about what being left unspoken or distorted).

less than 20 years ago they were freking out about the next ice age!!!!

what more wil it take to convince you? why believe what politicians and liberal "scientists" say when you can just look at the science and prove it wrong!?

  14. Turning off lights when no one is in the room. Turn your car engine off when stopped at traffic lights. Plant a couple of trees in your back yard. Simple things like that can make a huge difference if everyone did them.

  15. shut the light when leaving a room, take mass transit or bicycle, skates, use less water, no aerosol sprays, recycle, recycle cell phone accessories,

  16. You can't control nature.

  17. There are many simple things that you can do to reduce global warming.

Many things are made with crude oil (including many man-made fabrics, (including nylon, polyester, acrylic, and olefin), all plastics, some inks, some food products (including some coffee creamers ) and many cleaning products).  During the processing of crude oils, greenhouse gases are emitted.  If we reduce the use of these products, the less processing is required.

Some things that I have done to reduce my consumption of crude oil include:

    1. buying second hand clothing - this reduces the demand for newly produced fabrics and reduces the need for new items to be transported.  If more people bought used clothing and other items there would be less demand for new ones and fewer truck loads required to be on the road transporting goods to towns and ciies).

    2. When buying new clothing, buying clothing that is produced with only natural fabrics (cotton, wool, silk, hemp)

    3. use re-usable stainless steel drinking containers for liquids (water, juice...etc). - this reduces the need to produce the plastics for bottled juices and water, and the need to transport those items

    4. use fabric shopping bags.  This reduces the need for plastic or paper (paper bags are no better because trees, which absorb many greenhouse gases, have to be cut down to produce them).  This was hard to get used to but now it's second nature to grab them as I go out the door.

Other things that i have done to reduce green house gas emissions include:

    1. buy local produce (meat, veggies, plants) at one of my city's farmer's market.  I also grow my own food during the summer and 'can' it for the winter months.  Transportation requirements are greatly reduced since the suppliers are only travelling a short distance from their farm to the market, rather than from another country (which requires lots of gas).  This also saves me a lot of money!!!!

    2. worm (kitchen) composting and backyard composting.  There are a lot of benefits of composting - since I only put out a small amount of garbage a week, the truck doesn't have to go to the land fill as often (the truck doesn't fill up as fast and therefore less gas is used going back and forth to the landfill).  Also, methane is released from garbage - which is a huge green house gas.  The more I compost, then less I send to the landfill, reducing the methane released.  Just think if everyone did this!  What a difference it could make!

    3.  We rarely drive our vehicle.  We fill it up once a month and use it only to pick up heavy groceries.  We walk or use the bus to go elsewhere in the city (including work).

I hope that has given you some ideas of what you can do.  Once you incorporate changes in your life, they become the norm and are no longer hard to do!  I used to be super lazy, driving everywhere.  I have made huge changes and it's not hard anymore, walking places or taking the bus.  I am also a lot more fit lol!

    Cheers! :)

  18. Your few small steps and effective decisions in everyday life would be a big leap in helping us to improve global environment including global warming.

    a. Make energy efficient and conservation wise decisions in every sphere of life.

    b. While driving motor vehicle, turn off the engine if waiting is longer. More fuel is wasted when idling than restarting. Be alert in traffic. Try to take alternate routes which have few signals to eliminate idling.

    c. Warm-up the motor vehicle for one minute before moving. Accelerate gently and evenly and use your cruise control to maintain a steady speed.

    d. Use motor vehicle's flow through vents instead of air conditioning (which decreases fuel efficiency by 21%) or by opening window.

    e. Keep car engine tuned. A poorly tuned car wastes 15% more fuel. More fuel, means more pollution and travel fewer miles.

    f. Properly inflate & align tires to save fuel & to reduce wear on tires over time.

    g. Reduce the amount of miles you drive. Fewer distance driven, fewer polluting emissions created. Walk or ride a bike!

    h. Use fuel efficient automobiles. Follow state guidelines on emissions testing & maintain any pollution-control devices.

    i. Use public transportation when available.

    j. Conserve electricity, including turning off lights when not in use.

    k. Participate in recycling programs. Recycling conserves energy and also conserves natural resources.
