About IP address on dating site

Hello!

Could you tell me a little about IP address?

Is it possible for ordinary people to ask the provider and look into who he or she is through each one's IP address?

In this case, it's no incidental thing, nor illegal thing at all. Actually my friend is terrified by unknown people. Please let me know. Thank you very much.

Think of IP addresses as the address for your computer on the World Wide Web. They are your Uniqe Identity.

Not to sound all technical but IP stands for Internet Protocol, it is the rules and encoding specifications for sending data. It also determines whether the network uses a peer-to-peer.

Normally ISP internet service providers ( they make your IP address) won't give away any personall information to just anyone, unless it has something to do with the law ie. police questions.

The only people that can do that is the police/FBI and they would would need a court order to do that. Meaning the judge would have to ok it.

its called social engineering. the art of manipulating people into performing disclosure actions or divulging confidential information.  Its kind of hard to do but it can be done.  thats how thoes "hackers" got those suposedly confidential pictures and phone numbers from paris hiltons cellphone a while back.  in short its not likely to happen to you unless you are in the media or famous.

IIP adress is a 32 bit adress through which your computer can be contacted through internet
