In nascar the driver are fully 100 % inside a car. In the Indianapolis 500 Car Races thier heads are out in the open. So what if thiers a major car crash and the car flips. Is thier any protection ?

  1. Just the helmet and if you notice the head rest is extra tall usually 6 inches to a foot higher than their head.


  2. the way that the car is made there head is lower than some of the car. so when they flip there is a little protection because the car hits the ground first. Now i don't know if there is more leg room so they scoot down in the event of a wreck so that may be there too

  3. there head is inside , and not covered its not when they flip and hit the ground , and car up side down, there head will make severe conact with the ground the , helmet will help but not that much

  4. Their head is below the cockpit and they are cocooned inside.  The air intake on the top of the car avoids the head touching ground as well.
