I am an event rider, but show occasionally in hunter/jumper shows. My questions are:

1) Can monoflap saddles be used in hunter/jumper shows?

2) Is the single flap really that beneficial to horse/rider??

3) Are they used for show jumping as well as cross country?

  1. Yes the mono flap is acceptable in the hunter and jumper show rings.

If it is beneficial to either horse or rider, I would say yes.  There is less bulk under your leg so it allows a closer contact with your horses side.  Since the contact is closer you may not have to add as much pressure from your aids to get a response out of your horse.  Or you may not be able to tell the difference at all.  But you should be more in tune with your horse if that's the case.

They can be used in show jumping and a becoming more and more popular because of the closer feel.  I don't ride cross country so I can't say for sure but I would guess they are just fine.
