  1. Basically, they are exactly the same.  The only differences are the updates and few more programs installed.

  2. SP3 contains all the patches that are offered after Sp2 was released. After updating with SP3, you'll notice a few subtle changes:

Your networking gets a new "Windows Media Connection", which lets you network additional media sharing hardwares.

WPA2 -- the extra-strong WirelessProtectionAlgorithm format is now supported.

CredSSP service provider for extra security.

Router "Black hole" detection -- Windows now turns on this feature by default.

That's about it, really. SP3 is not that big of an overhaul, but it is a big improvement security-wise. It's recommended that you update if you want the best security.

  3. When you have SP2, leave it that way. You do not have to install SP3, because we do not need  it. It does not do anything negative or positive to our computer. Some computers even run better without sp3.

It was different with sp2. We were forced by microsoft to install sp2, because they stopped supporting sp1. We needed sp2, because without it, we were unable to install the necessary updates and put  our pc at risk. This is not the case with SP3.

I do not know what anti virus program will not supports windows sp3.

A company would go out of business very quickly when they produce software in 2008 that is not compatable with sp3.

You did not mention the name of the anti virus, but there is something not right when it is true what you say.
