I am about to start homeschooling my year 9 daughter and I have no idea what I need for her curriculum or units. If anyone has a planner already made out it or know what I need to do it would be a great help. I checked out a distance education place that has an already prepared program for year 9 but it was going to cost me $1000 a year which most people cant afford. I have to find programs for English, Maths, Science and SOSE. Please HELP! Thanx

  1. My sister-in-law homeschools. Please send me an E-mail and I will give you her phone number.

  2. You probably don't need a program. But you'd have to contact a support group for your area (I'm assuming you're in Australia, what with the use of SOSE?) to find out for sure. They'd also be able to share what kinds of resources they use that meet requirements.

Typically, in homeschooling, the parents decide what the child will work on. You might want to base it on school curriculum for where you live (you should be able to find out information from government websites for that) or you might want to do your own thing. Of course, if the govt is requiring you to do the same things, then there must be information somewhere on what your daughter is expected to learn.

  3. Go to your state department of education website.  There you will find standards for the grade level you will working on, as well as some sample curriculum (at least you will on Missouri's).

As for a planner and sources of materials, check local teacher supply stores ( or shop online).

You might also have a local homeschooling group that will support you in your project.  It takes a lot of time, planning, and dedication.

  4. My nine year old uses ACE we just do 2-3 pages in the work books a day. www.schooloftomorrow.com I will tell you it's very Bible based. It offers a free test to find out where to start her and it will help you identify any weak spots

  5. Try an online charter school ..they provide you with all the materials and even the computer and printer. It doesn't cost anything. My son has been using online schools now for over 8 years and I had a son graduate in one and he now attends a private university with scholarships
