About a bug i just heard about...?

I just heard about this type of bug and it is really big and comes out every 17 years and lives under ground, i dont know if they are ONLY at long island but does anyone know what it is called?

Certain kinds of cicadas belonging to the genus Magicicada.  They come out every 13 *or* 17 years, depending on the species.

They live all across the eastern United States.  I remember when both the 13 year and 17 year cicadas came out in the same summer... there was no quiet that summer..
