About airplane carry-on luggage?

How many bags are you allowed to carry-on? I'm really new to air travel. My mom said I was allowed to have 2, but I'm not really sure. I was planning on taking a regular North Face backpack and a duffel bag.

That's the duffel bag I have.

Also, are there like certain size limits for carry ons? That's why I posted the link to my duffel bag.

Thanks

  1. You are only allowed one, but if you have 2 small bags, they won't make an issue of it!

  2. You are usually allowed to bring one plus one.  Meaning you can carry-on a luggage item up to 45 linear inches (height + length + width) to fit over head.  Then you should be able to bring on another bag that can fit under the seat, like a back pack.

Double check with your airline though just because they are all different.

  3. You can usually bring 2 carry on' on a flight.  However, for some destinations, you are only allowed to bring one, so I would recommend checking with your airline or travel agent.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  4. Depend on airline

You need to be aware of these rules, or else the next time you hoose a size or two smaller than the maximum allowable domestic sizes.

If your flight is on a really small plane, you might find that your luggage allowances for both checked and carry-on items are substantially reduced.  For example, some light aircraft operators limit passengers to 20lbs of luggage (both carry on and checked).

  5. It really depends on the airline. It is normally 1 carry-on bag (which has to fit on the overhead bins, or at the front of your seat), and a personal item, such as a purse, or laptop computer.

Also, Spirit allows 1 carry on bag and a personal item, to correct the previous answer.
