Question:

About angels and their role in heaven....?

I have been told that angels are the messengers of God and that their sole purpose is to sing his praises and worship him.

Does this make the angel mindless beings created with only one purpose unable to change?

Do they have any willpower to change their own destiny and do they even know that they can?

Lucifer made the change. He went off on his own and became the most hated of angels so does this mean that any angel that tries to be his own person will fall out of favor with God?

Are they trapped into a life of servitude?

  1. BETTER TO REIGN IN h**l,THAN SERVE IN HEAVEN!

  2. Angels have never been in material form, so they don't understand things the same way that we do.  They all have different purposes.

The seven archangels are: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Zerachiel and Remiel.

Michael is the prince of light.  He leads the armies of light good against the darkness of evil.

Gabriel serves as a messenger from God.

    Raphael is a healer

Uriel is an Angel of the Earth

I'm not familiar with the others, but you can find out more with a Google search.

I have never before considered your questions; but it seems that they do have free will; as you note Satan decided not to serve.  So it seems that they choose to serve, but not being trapped in a body with human limitations, they are able to serve more constantly than humans.  You are not trapped if you willing serve.

  3. Dont' worry about the angels; just focus on your own walk before God.

  4. Most of what we know of angels actually comes from the Jewish scriptures and the teachings of the ancient rabbis.

Angels are said to be the First Creations of God, before the Universe was formed.  The Angels are God's messengers, but I think they do a lot more than stand around and praise him.  There are stories about Michael and Gabriel and Raphael and many others who perform special tasks.  Then there are the guardian angels that are assigned to every soul to help guide said soul on their life journeys.  The angels have the same free will as we do, but since they are pure spirit, do not have the temptations as we.  Lucifer fell because of the sin of pride, believing himself to be greater than God; that was his downfall.  I also don't think God hates Lucifer any more than he hates any of us.

  5. The purpose and nature of Angels is something the various Churches have been debating for years.  Generally they are considered to be intermediaries between God and man because man cannot withstand the Divine presence directly.  Some traditions say that they exist solely as the servants of God, which suggests a lack of Free Will, but the existence of rebellious Angels, such as Lucifer, makes it clear that some degree of Free Will must exist.  Roman Catholics and some of the Orthodox Churches have described them as being divided into a Celestial Hierarchy with the various grades described as "Choirs", each Choir having it's own specific responsibilities.  The "Cherubim", for example, are the Angels with the Flaming Swords who drove Adam and Eve from Paradise and stand guard over the Gates of Heaven, preventing the unworthy from entering.  Since Angels dwell eternally in the Light of their God, most Christians would hardly consider that being trapped, it's the goal of their whole religion.

  6. Angels are not human beings.  They do not have the fallen sin nature that we do.  They were created by God to serve God.  Interestingly enough, however, many of them chose to disobey and turn against God, since when Lucifer was cast out of heaven, the bible says one third of the heavenly host went with him.  So they apparently were created with the potential for choice.  This will not happen again, those that are with God now will remain there forever.

Serving God is not being trapped.  It's being freed.  Serving sin is what puts anyone in bondage.

  7. First, there are very few scriptures that show angels singing. Rather, they are seen "saying". And yes, in the Greek these are two different words, ado and lego. Sorry if that makes you look bad, creepshow. Study more--insult less.

Second, not accepting the word of an angel brings consequence. I hardly see that as mindless drone behavior.

    Luke 1:20

"Behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”

Angels serve because they have seen God for Who He is. Lucifer desired the glory and suffered because of it. You cannot try to usurp a throne without consequence.
