i applied at red cross to volunteer as data entry..so i did orientation and after the interview i sign 3 documents about the agreement about volunteering but the interviewer told me to wait one week for background checking and if she didn't call in one week then i will call her but she didnt thats why i called her and she said that i have to wait for one week for the department call where i applied if there's position avail..

my question is are they just being polite and don't want to tell me that I'm not qualified to be a volunteer? =(

  1. I volunteered w/ my local ARC for 4 1/2yrs.  I really enjoyed it.  Every since all the fraud that went on from volunteers after Hurricane Katrina, they do background checks and sometimes credit checks.  It just takes awhile.  Don't get let down.  It's just a requirement.  You are volunteering for one of the best charities around.  AND, you can expand to other fields with experience.  You can really go far with the ARC, eventually even travel nationwide or world wide to disasters and such with training and experience.

  2. probably not.  they're slow and chances are they just didn't file the paperwork.  keep calling every few days and you'll get answers.  don't worry =)
