  1. I had this as well when the baby was in position.  However, you should still have the baby's position checked.

Not to scare you, but simply a word of caution.  Since I had all the usual symptoms as you are describing, no one questioned the baby's real position.

It turns out the baby had moved to be looking left and not truly heads-down.  He was also facing the wrong way (sunnyside up as the nickname is).

This caused complications that weren't identified due to this cause until after 18 hours of difficult and non-progressing labor.  It took a nurse saying to the OB, "What if we are wrong, and the baby's not in position?"  Once they figured it out, I was actually able to progress in my labor and delivered him 11 hours later.

  2. You're baby has 'dropped' and is getting ready for birth :)  It's pretty uncomfortable, but it just means you're getting closer!  Good luck and an easy labor!!

  3. Your baby has probably dropped, which means he/shes getting in position to be born, doesn't mean you will have the baby soon. But he probably is in the right position

  4. Yup..thats baby pushing down on the top of your cervix. Chances are you arent dilating any quicker than you would...but you might have them check next doc apt.

I swore up and down I had to be dilating from that pain with my second child..but nothing. It was so different from my first and so painful.

I found tha walking usually made it worse.

  5. I got this with my first at about 36 weeks.  When the baby's head engaged it was very painful.  The ligaments and joints were loosening and making room for baby to come through.  She was born at 38 weeks.
