About being blind?

OK say that you were born blind and have always been blind with no hint of what any objects look like.

If someone was describing something how would they know what it was like

Like "That bowl is blue with green stripes"

how would they know what a bowl is, what blue is, and what green is.

Also if Helen Keller (sp?) was deaf AND blind how did she know how to speak?

  1. Helen Keller was born normal.  When she was around a year and a half old she became ill and lost her sight and hearing.  She was beginning to speak before she became sick so she had a small amount of memory of what speech was.  It didn't hurt that she was brilliant either.

Color for someone who had never seen anything would be a vague concept.  In the 1985 movie "Mask" the main character Rocky attempted to explain color to a blind girl by using her sense of touch.  A hot potato was "red", cotton balls were "white", etc.  It worked in the movie, but I don't know if it would work in real life.

  2. because she wasnt deaf at birth

  3. the human body has a special effect when one of the senses are gone specially if you were blind your other sneses become very sharp like if you touch a car you can know it's color you can hear far more then others you can know about the atmosphere around you by smell you can know the ingrediats of a dish by tasting it...being blind sometimes isn't on obsticle sometimes it's way better then seeing things
