  1. my hubby is guarding her maj in the new year. I've told him to keep his sandwiches under his big hat. and there might be room for a bottle of pop and a bag of sweeties lol

  2. As far as the British soldiers are concerned, the bearskin or busby dates from the Battle of Waterloo.  Napoleon's Imperial Guard wore them to be intimidating, and having defeated them the British started wearing them as a kind of trophy.  I once saw the inside of a bearskin when a guard fainted and it had some rather offputting metal scaffolding inside.  http://www.animalethics.org.uk/aec-b-ent...

  3. As livinfortheweekend2 says.

They are SAS trained attack squirrels.

  4. They are not hats. They are a breed of giant black squirrel which have been trained to keep very still for hours on end.

  5. They are called Bearskins and are used to keep their food in! lol

  6. It is just a headgear that goes with their uniform.  A bearskin is a tall fur cap worn as part of the ceremonial uniform of several regiments in the British Army. The standard bearskin of the British Foot Guards is 18 inches tall, weighs one and a half pounds and is made from the fur of the Canadian black bear.
