Question:

About blood vial pendants?

My boyfriend and I were thinking about filling blood vial pendants and swapping them. We have some little empty vials, but I have some concerning questions.

How would I extract my/ his blood safely, with enough amount to fill a 2cm vial?

Secondly, how would I preserve the blood to make sure it didn't clot or go off?

Obviously guest7694 you are not into this kind of thing. That does not, however, mean you can sit here and judge people that are. if you do it safely there are no risk. If you have something negative to say keep it to yourself. Thanks.

really? youre dumb for even going on this message board to SAY theyre dumb. grow up a little.

as long as you have an air tight seal you shouldnt have to worry too much about it clotting.

  5. I have done this with my boyfriend so let me give some advice one you don't need to draw the blood a simple clean sterile needle can be used to poke your finger tips which is safe easy and heals very quickly I recommend slightly off to the side of the finger tip where there are less sensory receptors if the pain will bother you.  Secondly liquid tylenol contains an anticoagulant a small bit if this in the vile and it stays very well preserved, you may also use a small amount of white vinegar as well.  I used the vials from vampfangs.com and then  sealed them with super glue the vials are extremely hard to break and as long as you are both healthy there are no issues with the blood even if it is spilled.  The vials are very small and easy to fill I think its a wonderful idea and I hope this helps

  6. u guys are dumb

  7. I've done this as a bit of an experiment and added a bit of rubbing alcohol to it.  It didn't stop clotting but it comes out looking rather cool.  As long as you permanently seal the vial I don't see the biohazard problem being a big deal; I just haven't had the vial long enough to see if there is other complications- ie. rot or something.
I'm in the medical profession and have access to better equipment, but i was curious if there was an at home method to do this. :)

  8. I know it's annoying to hear people talk negatively about this.
The test tubes that they draw your blood into at the doctor's office are for sale, they're called citrate tubes. They have sodium citrate in them, which is an anti-coagulant. You can buy the tubes on the internet or at a drugstore. If you draw the blood yourself please make sure you know what you are doing and make sure it is a safe and clean procedure. If there is any doubt that you can't do it yourself leave it to the professionals. Draw the blood into the tube, shake it, voila, anti-coagulated blood. As for the color, the only thing I can think of that might work is citric acid, which is in lemon juice. Otherwise just food coloring, that's all my ideas.
As for the vials, there are empty vials in various shapes and sizes at gothic sites like vampfangs.com. They sound creepy but some of them are actually very plain, and they come with stoppers which is a much safer option. Have fun. :]

  9. I've actually just looked this up, as i was planning on the same thing a while ago. Apparently, you can get your doctor to safely remove your blood and even add an anticoagulant to prevent it from, well, coagulating (clotting).

I got this information from the video on this page : http://www.vampfangs.com/FYO-Glass-Vial-Fang-Pendant-Necklace-p/bvfyofng.htm
