Are they affected by climate change or occuring more frequently as a result?

  1. Bore tides depend on a high tidal flow, typically 6 m (20 ') or more and a shape that funnels the  incoming tide into a river mouth.  Climate change will not directly make them more frequent but could make them stronger.  ALl weather patterns will tend to move to extremes as the total energy of the weather systems go up.

    If sea levels go up significantly some bore tide areas will no longer have the necessary shape (the current surface will be under water) but they will be replaced by areas upstream that do.  SInce most rivers become more constricted up stream (though not all) there should be more areas with the necessary shape for boretides.
