Question:

About car insurance in UK for European car with wheel on the left side (and Italian license)?

Hi there. I am Italian and I am moving to UK to work in the University. I would like to bring my own car. I know that my driving license is valid in the UK. I would like to know if it makes a difference in terms of insurance fee the fact that my car has the wheel on the left side (not on the right one as typical UK cars). I won't have any problem in driving my car on the opposite side of the road complying with the UK standards, but in case the insurance gets extremely more expensive maybe I think of changing it... What are the cheapest companies in the East Midlands area (Nottingham) ??

Thanks.

  1. Declare it the premium may be higher. I do not know you experience but with full no claims i'd say about 33/4 hundred unless you are a young inexperienced driver. Try confused.com   Don't go to AA or  RAC

  2. I have a j*p import and found Admiral good for that.

I noticed that a lot of the comparisson sites do not have buttons for searching import cars so you may have to call individual companies to check.

As far as cost goes, I'd say you'll only pay 10-20% more than if it was a UK car, if that. It depends on make of car, if a common make then cost should be about the same.

Ok, honda jazz is a very common car so shouldnt be more expensive as parts are universal (apart from the interior dash), thus any repairs wouldn't be more than usual for UK right hand cars.

Also, the links from the other posters here are spam, no clickse!

  3. My recommended source may be is not the best suitable one for the question, however it should be quite useful to get the ideal answer.here you go.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  4. Once you've got a UK address, try a comparison site like http://www.confused.com for the cheapest quotes.
