About chlorine pool water and cotton?

does pool water eat away cotton or does anything to cotton cuz i sewn cotton on my bathing suit and i wonder if the pool water will do anything to it i think bathing suit is like made out of nylon would nylon or trout fishing line work with it or just the cotton thread

i don't think it does anything i mean if you where a shirt in the pool it doesn't do anything soooo....

I do not have a definitive answer, but my guess would be that chlorine will fade cotton very quickly.  Also, cotton is fairly see-through when wet.  My guess would also be that chlorine will likely break cotton down faster than nylon, lycra, polyester, etc., so it will deteriorate faster than a normal swim suit.

So short-term, it may work.  Long-term, its life may be significantly more limited than more standard swim suit materials.
