  1. If you so desire, you can make arrangements when you book the cruise.  The last cruise we went on, we specified the couple that we wanted to be seated with.  They also specified that they wanted to be seated with us.  When we got to the ship, it was all arranged and we were with the couple for the entire cruise.

If you don't specify, they will try and seat you with a compatible couple of about the same age.  If for some reason you are dissatisfied with the arrangement speak to someone and have the seating changed.  That should present no problem.

    good luck on the cruise.

  2. you will sit with everyone in your party and then they

try to fill the rest of the seats with a similar party size/age

  3. If you are on a cruise with traditional assigned seating (not freestyle) and you don't care for your seating location or table-mates, ask the  Maitre'd.  He will make every effort to get you a new seating assignment you like.  Don't let your dinner seating assignment ruin your cruise.   ASK, don't sit there and complain - cruise lines make every effort to make you happy.

  4. Girl, sail with Norwegian Cruise Lines -- They have freestyle cruising, no seating assignments, eat when you want, where you want!

We just got back from the Caribbean 2 weeks ago and it was awesome!

  5. you never know who you will be seating with , some passengers

do send boarding with a table numbers. Those are passengers who booked through a travel agency.

Otherwise you find out,at dinner time, you can ask the maitre d' to move you if you do not like your location , your neighbor or your waiter. The tables can acomodate10, 4, 8 people at the time. With a group you can make arrangement to be together

Any other time you can almost eat anywhere on board, by the pool (pizza , hot dogs , barbecue), at the cafe on the roof ,in the open air ,more of a buffet styles

Lunch time at the restaurant ,it's pretty much , first come ,first serve basis. Midnight buffet is also buffet style

  6. Normally you get this information when you board the ship.  However, if you have a large group, then ask that all of you be seated together (this has to be done long before you board the ship - have your travel agent take care of this for you).  If you have enough to fill one table, then you will all be at the same table.  If you have enough to fill more than one table, then you will get several tables all near each other.

However, the above only applies to dinner.  Breakfast and lunch is open seating.

  7. Normally you do not find out what your table assignment is until you get on ship.  BUT, if you are going with a group and one person is making all of the reservations that person can request a table for 10, 12 or whatever, so you are all together.

If people in your group are booking their own reservations separately, then just have each person making reservations to tell the reservations agent to link all of the reservations (they do this by reservation number) so that you sit together.  This will also help place you in cabin near each other if that's what you would like.  And, it can help with tours to be sure you are all on the same tour bus.

  8. I recently took a cruise on Carnival with my entire family (10 people) and since Carnival owns Costa I assume they will work the same. Be sure to tell the cruise line you all want to be at the same table and they will make sure it happens. Typically you don't find out when or where you are eating until you receive your tickets (it will be written on them) and you will not find out who you are sitting with until you get there. In your case you can preplan it and if they should s***w it up they will fix it. Most cruise line are extremely accommodating and should be able to do pretty much what ever you would like. Also, breakfast and lunch are open seating so just arrive together, usually you will not eat breakfast or lunch in the main dining room as you are either off ship or sitting around the pool or casino. Have a great time, I am looking at the Costa Italy cruise so if you think of it let me know how it worked out.
