hi,

ive been thinking if for examples i am downloading a game (2GB file size), its kinda big and takes lots of hours to finish, and i decided to stop it for a while and continue the next day... so here's my questions:

1. If i STOP the progress of the download (ex: 30%) today. and continue the next day, will the torrent be able to continue downloading the file if i press start?

2. Will the file successfully functional upon installing it considering the first question?

I just ask this because for example i will download 5GB file, its huge and for my ISP it will really take time, i mean for several days, so i really dont want my PC turn on for several days, its a machine but it also needs a break... i hope you understand my point... please understand the question first before posting any replies... thank you

  1. yes and yes

torrents are designed to take random parts of the files, so if you stop it and start it again later it will only need to take parts of the file that your computer doesn't already have

  2. Not necessarily, if you stop, there is a slight possibility that all seeders and leachers will disappear. Which will essentially leave you with a dead torrent.

  3. Oh! U Have a nice arc! Torrents are actually designed for downloading discrete packets of data. So it doesn't matter whether u do it 4 a 5GB/5MB file. It's already divided in to number of packets. So if U download 30% today, U can continue from 31st% 2moro. U switch on/off doesn't matter. Happy downloading!!!

  4. Yeah if your downloading Games/Software using a Torrent Client, when you stop them, you can start them again and it will pick up from where it left off and you shouldn't have any problems by stopping them.
