i am going to have a c-section on sep,10. and at the same time my family doctor recomended me to remove the gall bladder because i have stones. and for that purpose they will put me under general anesthesia for both surgeries. i have this c-section second time. but first time it was epidural. i was ok with that because i was consious. now this time i am scared to put to sleep. can anyone help me what should i decide for that. both surgeries at one time or step by step?

  1. I don't know where you are in the world, but in the US, we almost never do those surgeries together.  We usually let the new Mom recover, and remove the gall bladder a month or two later.

One reason for this is that general anesthesia is significantly riskier in pregnant people than in non-pregnant ones.  We do GA for C-sections only when we have no other choice.

I would STRONGLY recommend waiting to get your gall bladder out.  It's the safer option.

  2. hi, most people its so afraid of be under general anesthesia, i work  with anesthesiologists I'm an anesthesia tech @ this time science & technology  are definitely very good, so  its nothing to be afraid of, trust in your doctor and i know  that for that kind of procedure you most wanna be under general anesthesia...just worry of your recover and good Lock !!! hope this help.

  3. Get them all over with at one time. It is easier. That way you only have to deal with pain once after you have a new baby. General is easy. Nothing to worry about at all.
