About homeschooling and special education?

How, or where, do you find a homeschool program for a child who needs special ed? This child's school isn't helping a lot with his education. They just don't care. He is made fun of and can't concentrate. Some of the teachers are downright mean to him. His foster mom thinks he would be better off homeschooled.

  2. I have listed two links below.

The first is from the Home School Legal Defense Association, which has a tremendous amount of information about homeschooling, and links to many other organizations.  I also recommend that you go to their homepage (www.hslda.org) and click on the "Homeschool Groups" link in the top right corner to find a group near you.  There is no substitute for talking to someone who is going through the same struggles as you.

The second is from our state group - Illinois Christian Home Educators.  They have done a lot of work to help families with special needs, and even set aside a separate day for them at the annual ICHE convention.

Hope that helps.  God bless you for caring about this child.

  3. Sounds as though this child would benefit from homeschooling.

It's not at all uncommon to find that schools are under responsive or non-responsive to special needs kids.

Here is some information to get you started:  http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/webl...  This link will take you to various websites and articles about homeschooling a special need child.

    All the best.
