About how long until new fish??

two days ago i added 2 false percula clowns to my 29 gallon tank and today i tested the water and parameters were

Ammonia-0

Nitrite-0

Nitrates-20...

I was just wondering how long until i can add another fish?? Would i have to wait till nitrates are down?? I know 20 is not dangerous plz help..

  1. Do a partial water change to lower the nitrates. You're right though, nitrates aren't as bad as ammonia and nitrites but you still have to do water changes when the nitrates get over 10-15.

    Otherwise your tank sounds like it pretty well cycled and you could add a fish/shrimp etc now. Just keep testing your water and whenever you see higher nitrates, do a partial water change.


  2. OK, well your supposed to run the tank for a week to get temp etc stabilised, add 2 fish. wait a week. add 2 more. add  more every week after that till tnak is fully stocked=]

  3. Do about a 25% water change to lower your nitrates, and then your tank should be cycled pretty well, so then add your fish.
