  1. Turboprops for short regional flights are more efficent. I don't see turboprops being replaced.

  2. I believe turboprops will be around for some time.  They are very economical to use and they can get into airports that many regional jets can't.

I know the Dash 8 and the Beech 1900 are still being purchased to this day by airlines and with their service life I would think they will be around for some time to come.

  3. no bcoz turboprop in regional airfields and stuff is more efficient to service etc

  4. No, for they will be in service for a long time. Turbo props are more efficent at lower altitudes then turbofan/jet  engines, and also they can land and takeoff in shorter runways than a turbofan engine, meaning they are well suited for feeder routes from small airports relatively close to a major metropolitan airport. With rising fuel costs, and the distance of the flights, a turboprop is the best aircraft for airports less than 200miles from the hub.. wouldnt make much sense to send a CRJ Detroit to Toledo.. or detroit to windsor, as the flight time is less than 15 mins in a turboprop, and about the same time as a jet for with less fuel being used..

  5. I fly private jets, but my answer is "no". The Q400 is made by the same company which makes the CRJ (Bombardier) and it has only recently entered service and has an order backlog, including U.S. deliveries. So, at least in the case of the Q400, there will be regional turboprops in the U.S. for more than the next "few years".

  6. No.  A turbopropeller engine has the advantage for some airports and short routes.  The jets you're thinking of require crash/fire/rescue equipment stationed at the airport.  Many airports are served by BE1900s,Jetstreams, and Bandeiraintes that don't require that equipment.

  7. I heard but could be wrong that CRJ's will replace all of the old turbo props and as demand decreases from certain regional carriers then the production of them will also decrease more and more until they are a thing of the past.  Not sure though....Hopefully there will be no more Prop Airlines.  Dont get me wrong I love props but I think that it is old school for business....
