  1. In a typical 305-day lactation, a Holstein could produce 6685 kg milk.  That's about 21.9 kg/day, or 9.9#/day, or 2.4 gallons/day.

  2. The top producing cow gave 11ish gallons of milk every milking (she had two milkings a day). A gallon of milk weights 8.6lbs (a gallon of water weights 8 milk weights more because it has more stuff in it).
