  1. I couldn't tell you for sure, sorry. It varies so much from person to person.

It mostly depends on which curriculum you use. Some are more expensive than others. And if you do a co-op it will naturally add to the cost(though that might be a good idea for you/your family)

Look for textbooks on ebay. Sometimes you can find them pretty cheap. Also amazon.com. that's where my mom gets most of her stuff.

And if you have younger kids you plan on homeschooling SAVE YOUR BOOKS you'll need them later. You'd think this would be obvious, but it isn't to some people.

Good luck if you homeschool!! I've been homeschooled since 4th grade. and I'm a junior. it's pretty awsome.

  2. The cost is going to depend on the way you chose to homeschool: New or used curriculum; grade level of student(s); boxed or self chosen curriculm; etc.

I homeschool my 4th grader using hands-on method, McGuffey Readers/Speller, Ray's Arthimetic and fieldtrips, along with various workbooks and printables and games to enhance the learning.

If you are a smart shopper, you can pay very little for start up and then just resupply the things you absolutly need at the beginning of each year ( Dollar Tree, Big Lot, etc) are great places.

While Parent Teacher stores are great for those hard to find things, be careful as you can spend a small fortune very easily.

Start up 5 yrs ago I think I spent close to $300  and now 5 yrs later I problably only spent about $75 ( minus fieldtrips) for the entire year. That is also between living in FL and VA.

  3. It really depends on your choice of curriculum, and whether you buy it used or new. It also depends on whether you are planning to do a lot of field trips, tutorial classes, independent classes, etc. I've heard people say they only spent $100/year on homeschooling but then found out they were only talking about what they paid for the curriculum. They weren't counting the field trips and other activities. Of course, some of those things can be free or cheap. All depends on what you feel is necessary. I feel that field trips, cultural events, etc. are a necessity to my children's education. Others view those things as optional.

  4. How ever much you choose to spend.  I've heard estimates of $100 up to $10k.  I spend toward the high end several years, including a lot of travel.

Sometimes you might want a larger home if you are home more often and want room to use some of supplies that may be of interest to your family.  That cost can add up too.

But, if you have a small abode, and take advantage of free and cheap supplies, that works well too.

It's all up to you :D

  5. It can range from free, see if your state offers free porgrams here...

  7. It's entirely up to you.

We spend between $70 and $100 per year.

    All the best.

  8. I live in MS and it's about 750 per year here and in TN also. I think it depends on the programs. You can get a home school program from another state.
