About how much financial aid will I receive?

Hi there,

My dad made about 55k last year with 4 dependents (3 brothers and my mom). I am 23 and do not live with my parents and made about $8k last year. Neither I nor my parents receive any sort of aid (food stamps and etc). I want to attend college this fall and I was wondering if anyone could estimate about how much financial aid I could receive. How much would I have to pay the school myself? Would I be eligible for any other type of grant?

Thanks and let me know if you need more info.

  1. Depends on your EFC on your FAFSA

  2. It all depends on your EFC

just apply for now & see what's your EFC

if anything, it's better for you to talk about this with a financial aid counselor in your college.

If anything, sign up for Tuition Plan Payment: which is Most schools send out tuition bills that cover the entire term and are due in full. TuitionPay takes your bill and splits it into smaller amounts, payable over a number of months. You still owe the same amount of tuition, but you now have more time to pay and your payments are much smaller.

  3. It will depend on your FAFSA results, however I can say that you only have to worry about this for one more year. Once you are 24, you no longer have to claim your parents' financial info and you can declare yourself an independent, base only on your income.
