About how much is taken out in taxes from monthly wage and what's the max number of hours a teenager?

in highschool is allowed to work?

i'm in ga.

i'm currently 16, jub i'm looking at pays like a little over 6 an hour.

help please.

  1. I assume you're still living at home....

    Unless your total income for the year is expected to exceed $5000 (the amount of the unrestricted standard deduction), or you paid taxes last year because of investments in your name, you should claim "exempt" on your W-4, and only FICA taxes in the amount of 7.65% will be withheld.

    It appears you can rationally claim "exempt" on your G-4, but only if you first file a null (0-income) GA tax return on form 500 for 2007, and if you expect your total income to be less than $2300.  I could be misreading that last number from the forms....

    I can't tell you the number of hours, but I believe it was 10 hours a week in Indiana, when I was a teenager.  It could be more during summer vacation or school breaks, possibly as much as 25 hours a week.
