Question:

About jewellery valuation....?

I know nothing about the valuation at all. The thing was I went to an old jewellery shop on New Bond St. for a valuation in order to sell my jewellery but it turned out that I've got an insurance valuation instead and I had to pay like nearly £45 for just a piece of paper. The fact is my jewellery definitely cost more than what I've got my item valued. Then I found out some answer here somewhere on Yahoo that for Insurance valuation vs. Selling valuation are different, they will give you the actual value/possibly the best valued if you're about to sell the item but you'd get half less for an insurance purpose. Is that true? Do you know any free valuation places I can go for? Thank you.
