Hey, we got some brown Leghorn and Comet chicks in mid may. I was wondering when they will start laying/when we should seperate them from the rest of the chickens? (So they're almost 15 weeks old now)

  1. Leghorns and Comets both seem to start laying early.  The average laying age for chickens is about 5 months, so start keeping an eye out.  Depending on where you live they might not start laying this year though.  Unless you give them artificial light their bodies will shut down the egg-laying process when the days get a certain length.  I'm not sure why you would need to separate them from the rest of the chickens.
