One writer said:" People who do not manage are either too young, too old, or found in institutions for the incompetent."

What is the author trying to say?

  1. I think he wants to say that in order to be a successful manager you need the capacities, mindset and the life experience to be one.

    You need life experience to manage, this is typical lacking in younger people.

    You do need the "drive" to manage, older people usually tends to have lost that and prefer family life, ...

    You also need the capacities to manage

    The real interesting point is in "or found in the institutions for the incompetent", this statement can be divided into two remarks:

    - everyone else does manage at some time in his life

    - the people who do not manage are all working in the same "kind of" institutions (but then who is managing these institutions?).

    Whatever you believe, it's a very broad generalization.
