Question:

About my Mitsubishi Lancer ES?

The dealership is telling me the catalytic converter and upstream, downstream oxygen sensor needs to be replaced and it will cost like $1,500? I think it is outrageous. So I am planning on buying parts from autopart store then go to a shop and let them do the work. You think I can save some money this way?

Then does anyone know what type of oxygen sensor does a Mitsubishi lancer ES 2.0 4cyl. use? 1,2,3, or 4 wire?? Thanks!

  1. These vehicles use a four wire heated O2 sensor, I would find it a bit unlikely that everything needs replaced, although I cannot see the veh.

Most shops will not let you supply your own parts, but check around, you may get lucky

  2. After working at both a dealership and independent shop I can tell you that you will save money by staying away from the dealership whenever possible. Most mechanics refer to a dealership as a stealership. The only thing to worry about is any waranty issues. just make sure you don't void it if you have one.
